why silk?

if you've worn silk, especially silk charmeuse with a hint of stretch, you can skip on ahead. you already know why silk is the fabric you want touching your skin. silk is the strongest natural fiber. silk breathes because it's a woven fabric, but it's also thermal. it also absorbs moisture: think warm in the winter and cool in the summer. it's natural too, and resilient, perfect for protecting your most valuable possessions.

how to care for silk:

never fear! all silk fabrics offered by solojones should be hand washed for longest life. dry cleaning is so high maintenance. read on. silk is a natural protein fiber, like human hair. when washing silk, don't wring it, but roll it in a towel. silk will dry quickly, but don't put it in the dryer. wash your jones with a good shampoo, as it will remove your skin's oil and revitalize your jones. don't use an alkaline shampoo or one that contains ingredients such as wax or petroleum, as these products may leave a residue or cause "oil" spots. if static cling is a problem, a good hair conditioner may be used in the rinse water. if you dare, throw your bottoms in the washer on a delicate cycle with a very soft and kind detergent, and lay flat to dry. you've been sufficiently warned, though, that hand washing provides the longest life.
